   Change Is Good

By Riccardo   March 22, 2021

I hope you are doing fine and that you find a moment to read some thoughts that have been going through my mind lately. Of course, we are all living a weird time aren't we? That's right, this pandemic seems to reshuffle the cards by stealing the certainties we had until recently. Lately I have dedicated myself to photographic genres that I had partially abandoned such as street photography. What a pleasant feeling to be able to break away from the usual routine. Is the same happening in your work? Has this period allowed you to direct your energies towards new things? I would like to know your opinion.

Yes in this last year I have been walking down the streets of Milan trying to capture the mood of the city and of the people. Sometimes I walked at night or at dusk. You saw some shots because I posted them on social media. Some people have also seen them abroad, America, England, Canada .. and I must say that many have appreciated my work. I would not have expected such strong public interest in a genre that many photographers, mistakenly, no longer consider important.

On the contrary, the public still perceives it as necessary, a sort of diary and witnessing of the times we are living in. Black and white photos are those that convey the most emotions and that have aroused the most interest. I love black and white, the dark tones of the shadows that give three-dimensionality to the images; photography as an art and not as a commercial product and which will also have repercussions on my future professional works. Perhaps it is no coincidence that the latest trends in architectural photography favor black and white over color, perhaps we are ready to give a soul to a commercial image as well.
